1. Things to do: Visit Vieille Ville (Old Town)
While you’re in Nice, exploring the maze of narrow alleyways and cobblestone streets that boast a lively ambiance reminiscent of Italy. Vielle Ville begins at the western end of the Colline du Château (Castle Hill) and is bounded by spacious boulevards including the Jardin Albert I, Place Masséna, and Promenade du Paillon. 2. Promenade des Anglais
The symbolic street of Nice is the Promenade des Anglais, a pedestrian area that follows the curve of the Baie des Anges beaches. The iconic seaside road is lined with huge palm trees and gardens. It was originally a small footpath, you can find everyone from tourists and locals to skateboarders and cyclists taking over the Promenade. One of the best things to do here is to take a walk along the Promenade and take in the beautiful views of Nice!
3. Things to do: Visit the Marché Aux Fleurs Cours Saleya
If you’re a foodie or just want to capture the impressive floral display for Instagram, you need to visit this incredible flower market found in the Old Town which dates back to 1897. Nowadays, the market has fresh fruit and vegetable stalls and street food. Even if you have no intention of buying any flowers, a good way to explore is walking around the market.
4. Place Massena
Nice’s main square offers anyone who visits the opportunity for shopping, great food in cafes dotted around the edge and some of the best people-watching spots in the city. Place Massena is the main square and one of Nice’s most popular attractions, the large plaza lies between the Old and New Town. It sits at a crossroads of several main boulevards, including the grand Avenue Jean Médecin. Locals flock here on their way to school and work. Stop for a coffee at one of the cafés dotted around the edge of the square and take in the action! The red buildings with blue shutters are a sight to see on any visit to Nice.
5. Things to do: Monaco!
Monaco is the smallest country in the world, a popular spot for tourists as it is very close to the French Riviera, so on a visit to Nice, you could take a day trip here. It’s also the place where the rich and famous come to stay as it’s filled with luxurious hotels, resorts, and casinos. Monaco is only 2 square km, less than 1 mile!
